Nokwazi Dlamini is a name which is perhaps not well known but you better believe that the voice is distinct and recognized. She has given us countless hit alongside some of the country’s celebrated DJ’s and producers.
She first caught our attention when she featured on iMali; a song which is now an anthem for all baby mama’s in the country. The Black Motion produced joints led to more hits with Heavy K’s iNDE being perhaps the biggest to date.
We recently caught up with her at the Kalawa Jazmee Artist showcase where she was performing two of her latest joints. She spoke to us about her excitement to share new music. “Today I am excited that people will get to know the sound kaNokwazi besides the features.”
She performed Love At First Sight which she says is the first song with an English titled. She describes the song as a love song about people who fall in love, get married and have a child after meeting in the club. Uyezwa on the other hand is a gospel song which features Ntsika from acapella group, The Soil. “Uyezwa is a gospel song but it’s very hip”, she concludes.
With her powerful voice and her undeniably distinct brand of music, we cannot wait to hear what Nokwazi’s album will sound like. For now though, check out the video below!
