Nota Chats The Impact That Big Zulu Has Had In The Game & What He Brings Into The Hip Hop Culture
Published 2 years ago by

Big Zulu is arguably one of 2020’s brightest stars and this is based off the fact that he has had such an incredible year. He has several number one songs charting on radio, he has shot and put out 4 music videos thus far and has made sure that his culture is evident in his music and all that he does. This is the authenticity that has placed him head and shoulders above what other rappers in the game have been doing this year.

Nota points out that this authenticity is one of the main reasons Big Zulu was able to resonate with so many people. Placing him at number 5 on the list is warranted and important for the people who come from the dame environment that he comes from.

Basically what he represents and what he is bringing is into the Hip Hop culture is something that is authentically South African and is fresh and it’s something that is exportable. So uplifting Big Zulu and making sure that he is prominently placed on the list, in the top 5 position also validates the aspirations of everyone that comes from the same environment he comes from. That was very important and I’m glad that he was placed so highly on the list”.

Nota also speaks about the importance of representation and making indigenous South African sounds like Maskandi and Iscathamiya cool again to the Hip Hop listener. Once again noting that artists such as Big Zulu, Kid X, Sjava, Aubrey Qwana and Blaq Diamond are just some who were birthed from the pioneering moves of Mashayabhuqe and MaraZa to name a few.
