Throughout the evening the pressure on the hidden secrets between them surmounts to breaking point. It premiered in February on Mzansi Magic and Showmax.

We recently had a chat with Donovan, we speak to him about the character he plays, Ant’s and how he prepared for the role. He spoke about how shocked he was to be cast in a movie and how this got him out of his comfort zone and forced him to be aware of himself as an actor.

“I must be honest when I got the call from the director, Sisanda, to cast for the film, I was quite surprised. I never really get cast for films. I’ve been in a lot of series and sitcoms and things of that nature but not film. And when he told me what the character was, I was excited because I actually do this alter ego on social media, this rap character.”

He also touched on being a rapper back in the days and he used this experience to help in preparing for this role as Ant’s.

But I also used to rap as well, back in the days, eMtata. My alias was Acid Rain in Umtata so I pulled a lot of Ant’s characteristics from that character. I tried not to prepare too much. I really wanted to get in there to kind of survey and look at the other characters who are phenomenal… I got to set day one and just watched before I got infront of the camera. And really just found my place with all of these amazing stars,” he concludes.
